The Subscriptions view of the Loupe Server Administrator shows the status of all Loupe Desktop subscriptions to the Server as well as any subscription from the server to an upstream server.  For each subscription it shows:

• When it was added
• When it last retrieved information from the Server
• How many sessions are waiting to go to this Loupe Desktop

and more.

Removing Subscriptions

If a computer has its operating system reinstalled or uninstalls Loupe Desktop without unsubscribing from the Server it will leave its subscription abandoned on the Server.  Typically these show up as multiple records for the same Hostname (for when a computer has its OS reinstalled and then re-subscribes to the Server) or an old Hostname that hasn't contacted the Server in a long time.

You can remove any subscription by right-clicking it in the list and selecting Remove Subscription.  If the user comes back and wants to access the Server from the same computer/user combination they will be informed there is a problem with their subscription and will need to re-subscribe to receive new information.

Server Subscription

Each Server can subscribe to a single upstream Server. When subscribed it will copy down all of the session information that arrives at that server and provide it to all of the subscribers to the current server.  For example, you can:

• Set up an externally hosted Server for some sessions: You can install a server hosted remotely and accessible from the Internet to act as a relay to your internal server where you keep all of your data.  The session data will only be transferred once between the Internet and your internal facility and it doesn't require your private server to have a consistent public IP address.
• Separate DMZ and Internal networks: You may have network rules that prevent your DMZ computers from accessing privileged internal resources.  In this case, set up a server in your DMZ and have your internal server subscribe to it to gather the data.
• Separate Production and Development: You can set up a Development Server to gather data from the Production Server so Loupe Desktops subscribing to it will get all data but Loupe Desktops subscribing just to the Production Server will not see development data.

When a subscription is made all of the session information on the remote server is copied down and merged with information that is coming to the server directly.   

Subscribing to more than one remote Server

The Server Administrator currently can only configure one subscription.  If you need to subscribe to more than one upstream server, contact Gibraltar Software.
