Getting Started - What's New - Version 3.5
In This Topic
Compatibility
Loupe 3.5 is fully backwards compatible with 3.0 and has the same constraints as 3.0 when working with older versions:
- Agent: Compatible with Server & Desktop versions 3.0 and later.
- Server: Fully backwards compatible with older Agents and Loupe Desktops, any version.
- Desktop: Compatible with Server versions 3.0 and later. Compatible with any version of Agent.
Agent Side by Side Compatibility
You can mix older and newer agents on the same computer, however they will be unaware of each other and will not coordinate when sending to hub, packaging, or auto send consent. When upgrading any unsent sessions recorded by a 2.x agent will not be transferred by the newer agent.
Agent Configuration Changes
In response to customer requests two configuration changes have been made in the Agent:
- Network Viewer Enabled by Default: Instead of being disabled by default, network viewing is enabled for local viewers only by default. This simplifies configuration when using the new local Live Sessions capability. The network viewer can still be disabled, and use of a remote viewer still requires explicit configuration. For more information see Developer's Guide - Live Session Configuration.
- Auto-send Startup Delay Shortened: While testing, users have reported confusion as to why sessions didn't show up more quickly when starting and stopping applications. The delay until sessions are automatically sent to the server after the Agent is started has been reduced to five seconds.
Loupe Desktop and Loupe Server Exclusive Installation
The Loupe Desktop and Loupe Server can only have a single version installed on a given operating system.
New Features In This Release
Loupe Server Web UI for Easy Access
We've created a full web interface for accessing your Loupe data through a web browser. Completely touch enabled, you can view usage and error information for all of your applications and then switch to Loupe Desktop for heavy analysis. The two complement each other - the web interface is for rapid access by many people to key aspects of Loupe whereas the desktop client gives you the ability to drill deeply into individual sessions.
Loupe Server Installation Wizard
We've added new wizards both for initial configuration of Loupe Server and to help in common cases where you want to reconfigure the environment (such as when moving databases).
Loupe Server Upgrade to SQL Server
You can now upgrade an existing VistaDB repository to SQL Server without having to drop and re-import all of the data.
Loupe Desktop Contextual Ribbons
We've been upgrading Loupe Desktop to make it easier to find all of the features available in a given context. For example, you can now reconfigure charts when analyzing sessions much easier than before.
Local Live Sessions with Loupe Desktop
Loupe-enabled applications running locally can now be viewed in real time without having to configure them to integrate with a remote server first. Just select the application from the new Live Sessions node under Local in the tree view. Additionally, you will get a system tray notification when a new application starts to make it easier to jump right in!
Gemini 5.0 Support
The Gemini Defect Tracking addin has been updated to work with Gemini 5.0 and will not work with Gemini 4.0. Unfortunately, there is an issue with this integration (see Known Issues below) so we do not recommend Gemini 4.0 users upgrade to Loupe 3.5 at this time.
