You can perform a range of analysis on the session summary information using the new Analyze Sessions view. It combines a pivot table and pivot chart and can access any of the session summary information in your server repository.

    How it Works

The set of fields are listed on the right of the session analysis window.  With each field you can:

At a minimum, you have to have one field in the Data Area to have anything displayed in the cells on the chart.

    How Data Fields are Summarized

Each field has a preconfigured way that it is summarized when placed in the Data Area.  By default it will sum numeric fields (like Messages) and otherwise count the number of entries.

If you just want to count the number of sessions in each cell use the Id field.  It's unique for each session and summarizes as a count.

    Using the Chart

Once you have data you're interested in displaying in the grid you can select how to chart it.

Since totals aren't charted you have to have at least one field in the Row, Column, and Data areas to chart.

By default, a bar chart is displayed with row values along the X axis and each cell that has a value contributing a bar to the chart.  You can decide what gets charted by selecting either one or more rows or one or more columns.

    Fine Tuning the Chart

To use a different chart type or otherwise configure the chart select Customize Chart from the Analysis menu.  This displays a wizard dialog that lets you extensively reconfigure the chart into any of a number of different types (bar, area, pie, line) as well as adjust other options.

    Printing the Chart

Once you have it configured the way you want you can print or export the chart by selecting Print Chart from the Analysis menu.  From the Preview Dialog you can then print or export the chart into a number of graphical formats.
